How Vintage Decor Can Elevate your Wedding Aesthetic

Vintage decor is a fantastic way to elevate your wedding aesthetic. Not only can it be incredibly cost effective, but it can create depth and detail that will make your special day memorable. However, you may be having some reservations on why to go vintage, but below are all the best reasons vintage decor should be a part of your day.

Timeless Look

First of all, vintage decor is timeless… literally! It has stood the test of time to make it all the way to your wedding. But also, the design and look of vintage decor will always look stylish and not too trend led which may be something you want to avoid. We all know the feeling of looking back on photos and thinking ‘Really? Did I think that looked good?’. Vintage decor helps avoid this, whilst also being a beautiful way to pay homage to the past.

Adds depth + details

We’ve all been to weddings where everything just seems to blend into a mirage of white and blush pink, which isn’t a bad thing if that’s your goal, but if you want to add depth and detail into your wedding, then vintage decor is the way to go. Though chivari chairs are the classic wedding go to, using a service like our Mix + Match Vintage Chairs, will add a level of detail to you wedding decor that may not of been there otherwise. They add a lot of warm to any colour palette and a more homegrown, natural vibe too.

Using Vintage is Environmentally Friendly!

The Green Bride Guide states that the average wedding produces 400 lbs of garbage and 63 tons of CO2. (A Look At Wedding Industry Waste With Eco-friendly Wedding Guide - Botanical PaperWorks) If being environmentally conscious is high in your list of priorities, then vintage decor is the way to go! For example, all of my Mix + Match Vintage Chairs are second hand restored chairs that otherwise would have ended up in landfill! There’s a lot of ways your vintage decor can use secondhand items that may otherwise end up as waste. Vintage decor, stops items being mass manufactured for your event and encourages a culture of reusing things. Some wonderful examples include having a ‘Take a Mug’ wedding favour wall or collecting champagne flutes to be part of your decor from secondhand shops to create detail on your wedding table.

Vintage tells a Story

If you are sourcing your own vintage pieces or if you are using a wedding service, vintage decor tells a story. Choosing vintage creates an opportunity to add some really special details to your special day, without them looking too out of place. Perhaps there’s a special chair you could incorporate to your seating, or some mirrors that could be repurposed as signs with some wipeable markers? Vintage decor opens up all sorts of creative options that incorporate

Infront of these wooden signs is a green velvet vintage sofa with cushions on. On this sofa sits a perpex sign which says 'Welcome to out wedding - Pricilla & Agostinho 11/09/21. Save Money

Having vintage decor can be a great way to save a bit of money on your big day, whilst maintaining luxury looking decor. Whether you want to spend time going to secondhand shops and antiques fairs to look for decor, or if you hire, vintage decor generally has a cheaper price point.

All in all, incorporating vintage decor on your big day can be a great way to get creative, incorporate some memories and just inject some fun to your wedding planning!
